Japan entry and travel arrangements for U.S. citizens
Japan’s MOFA visa-exemption list (September 1, 2025 edition; reviewed October 11, 2026) includes the United States in short-stay arrangements, normally up to 90 days for eligible visits. A valid passport, appropriate visit purpose and entry permission remain your responsibility; a buying tour does not authorize paid work in Japan.
The Immigration Services Agency’s current JESTA law summary (Act No. 32 of 2026, promulgated June 5, 2026) specifies commencement on a date set by Cabinet Order, no later than March 31, 2029. Recheck official entry instructions for your travel date.

Are tiers 1 and 2 free?
Yes. Both tiers are free. Agree the dates, pickup point and permitted visit arrangements with Mirai.
How much is the VIP option?
The range is USD $350–$600 for a 3–5 day visit, depending on duration and customization. Agree the itinerary and final quote in writing.
Is the VIP fee credited on a purchase?
Yes. Mirai offers the tour-fee credit for car or parts purchases worth at least $10,000. Agree the eligible purchase and credit handling in writing.
Does the tour guarantee auction admission?
No. Venue permission and guest rules control admission. Mirai can discuss alternative yard or sourcing activities if access is unavailable.
Can I bid independently with Mirai’s membership?
No. Mirai handles member bidding under the approved purchase agreement. Guest attendance does not transfer membership or bidding rights.
Are tuner shops or Fuji activities guaranteed?
No. Named locations are interests to discuss, subject to permission, bookings and schedules. Private access, dyno work and on-track activity require a specific arrangement.
Is hotel accommodation included in a free tier?
No. Tier 1 includes booking assistance rather than payment for accommodation. Flights, travel insurance and personal expenses are your responsibility.
Do U.S. citizens normally need a short-stay visa?
Generally no. Eligible short visits fall under Japan’s current visa-exemption arrangements. Entry purpose, passport and permission still need to satisfy the official rules.
Where should I check the JESTA commencement date?
Use Japan’s Immigration Services Agency instructions for your travel date. The 2026 law summary provides for commencement by Cabinet Order no later than March 31, 2029.
Does buying in person change the payment terms?
No. The same agreed deposit, independent inspection, balance and cancellation process applies. Review the terms before authorizing a purchase.
Can I book without selecting a vehicle?
Yes. Send your interests and whether the visit is research or purchase-focused. Mirai can agree a useful scope without claiming a specific vehicle is available.
How do I request dates?
