Kei truck Jumbo cab: space for the driver, less bed behind
A kei truck Jumbo cab trades some gate-up bed length for extra seat travel, recline and storage behind the seats. The Hijet Jumbo and Suzuki Super Carry are the best-documented extended-cab choices, but neither guarantees comfort for every tall driver.

Kei truck Jumbo cab: what the extra space buys
Daihatsu’s Hijet Jumbo puts space behind the seats and adds reclining seats. Suzuki’s May 2018 Super Carry launch described a 180 mm driver seat slide and up to 40° recline, plus behind-seat storage. The shape is helpful for leg position, seatback angle, a jacket or a small bag. It is not a second row and does not automatically solve headroom, steering-wheel reach or knee clearance.
For a tall driver, ask for a seated measurement from hip to headliner and from seatback to pedals, then test the exact cab if possible. Steering wheel, seat base and shoe size all affect comfort. A “Jumbo” name on an auction sheet deserves an exterior profile and cabin photo.
Roomiest kei truck: the bed-length cost
Daihatsu’s March 2026 Hijet specification gives 1,650 mm (65.0 in) gate-up for Jumbo versus 1,940 mm (76.4 in) for standard. Suzuki’s December 2025 cargo page gives 1,480 mm (58.3 in) for Super Carry versus 1,940 mm for regular Carry. Super Carry’s 1,975-mm floor measurement uses a recess under the cab, so a wide rigid item still sees the shorter gate-up rectangle.
The bed-size guide tests plywood, pallets and other measured cargo. Cab space can be a smart trade when the truck carries tools rather than long lumber.

Which extended cabs make sense for U.S. buyers?
The current Super Carry was launched in 2018, so a 2018 example does not meet NHTSA’s 25-year age threshold during 2026. A current Hijet Jumbo specification is valuable for understanding the design, but an importable candidate must be assessed by its own build month, period catalog and U.S. entry route. Older extended-cab names and bed dimensions differ; do not paste current numbers onto a 1999 truck.
At auction, compare cab corrosion, rear cab seals, seat rails and the upright storage cavity. Ask whether a repaired rear wall or modified seat mechanism affects the space you expect. Browse kei trucks for sale and use the Hijet and Carry guides for model context.

What makes a good Jumbo cab buy
Verified seat travel, dry rear-cab seals and a straight shorter bed define a useful extended cab. Older import-eligible examples with documented identity warrant closer attention than a “Jumbo” badge on an unverified listing.
Search Jumbo and Super Carry cabs in the Mirai Auction Portal
An extended-cab search should begin with the age window, then the real body name. Mirai’s customer-only Auction Portal covers major Japanese auction houses and can filter older trucks by build date, model, grade, condition and documentation for a U.S. destination. A seller’s “Jumbo” description may be loose, and newer Super Carry units are outside the 2026 federal age exemption. Send your height and cargo needs; we can screen period-correct cabs and request seat-position photographs.

Frequently asked questions
Which kei truck has the largest cab?
Hijet Jumbo and Super Carry are prominent larger-cab designs, but their dimensions and eligible years differ. Measure the specific candidate rather than relying on a model name.
What is the roomiest kei truck for a tall driver?
A verified extended cab is often a better starting point than a standard cab. Seat travel, recline, headroom and pedal clearance must all be tested.
When did the Suzuki Super Carry arrive?
Suzuki launched the current Super Carry in May 2018. A 2018 unit is too young for the usual 25-year federal import exemption in 2026.
Does a Hijet Jumbo have a full-length standard bed?
No. Daihatsu’s March 2026 catalog lists 1,650 mm gate-up for Jumbo and 1,940 mm for the standard cab.
How long is the Super Carry bed?
Suzuki lists 1,480 mm gate-up in December 2025. Its longer recessed floor measurement is not a full-width open-bed length.
Can a six-foot driver fit in a kei truck?
Yes. A suitable extended cab may fit, but height alone cannot predict knee, pedal and head clearance. A seated test is decisive.
Is the extra cab a second row of seats?
No. These kei-truck extended cabs provide seat movement and small behind-seat storage, not a passenger row.
Does extra cab space reduce payload?
Generally no. A cited current grade may retain 350 kg rated cargo, but the individual certification and body equipment control its true limit.
Can I import a brand-new Jumbo for normal U.S. roads?
Generally no. The ordinary 25-year age exemption does not cover a new truck; another lawful federal route and state road review would be needed.
What should I inspect on an older Jumbo cab?
Check rear cab seals, rust, seat rails, reclining locks and any repaired rear wall. Ask for dimensions and photographs of the exact unit.
